Default # 2,000 Happiness

I 'm sure most here know how I feel about this Site and it's Members. This is a poem to wich I know not who the author is but I have had it with me for a long time and read it ocassionally to keep things in prospective. I would like to share it with everyone here.
Happiness...

Happiness is like a crystal
Fair and Exquisite and Clear
broken in a million pieces
shattered, scattered far & near
Now & then along lifes pathway
Lo ! some shining fragments fall
But there are so many pieces
No one ever finds them all

You may find a bit of beauty
Or an honest share of wealth
While others right beside you
Fathers honor, love or health
Vain to choose or grasp unduly
Broken is the perfect ball And there are so many pieces
No one ever finds them all

Yet the wise, as on they journey
Treasure every fragment clear
Put them as they may together
Imagining the shattered sphere
Learning ever to be thankful
Though their share of it is small
For it has so many pieces
No one ever finds them all !

On this.. My 2,000th Post , I would like to tell you's how Blessed I feel that I have been so very fortunate that of the pieces I have gathered you's are a great portion of these fragments that I treasure and am truly so thankful for !

Theres No Place Like Home !

Great poem. Congratulations on #2000 and to 2000 more! This forum wouldn't be the same without you.

BTW the author of the poem is Priscilla Leonard.

Done a little digging and found this tidbit of information:

The poem is part of Happiness and Other Verses 1907.
A collection of verse by Emily P. Bissell who wrote prose and poetry under the name of Priscilla Leonard. She is best known as the person who introduced the Christmas Seal to America. In 1907, her cousin, Dr. Joseph Wales, needed money to operate his tuberculosis hospital for the poor. Emily Bissell decided to sell Christmas Seals, adopting a successful Danish practice. She wanted to raise $300 with her first Christmas Seals; she ended up raising $3,000. The Christmas Seals that are still used every year are the descendants of Emily Bissell's efforts nearly ninety years ago.
