Default Wierd Science

I hear SPAM amd WD-40 make a great napalm!!!...The only problem is it bounces all over tarnation, and slides off of smooth surfaces....Just imagine the rust it would remove if you put it on a stuck bolt and lit it...

Wow couple lucky kids there no doubt.

Something similar happened here a few years back in Carson City. Couple kids digging a fort found an ammo box full of Vietnam age grenades.

Lol I seem to be a little nervous now about digging around the old ghost towns out here. Imagine finding a cache of DYNOMITE, tink, tink BOOM.

Default Mea Culpa!

I found a bomb last year while hunting the beaches on the Southshore of Bermuda. I pulled up either a WWII Mortar or a Cold War, Phosphorous Aerial Flare from a little over 2 feet on a beach with families playing in the sand nearby. The temptation when finding something like this is to chuck it back but that would have been irresponsible. The only people who do ordinance demolition on the island are The Bermuda Regiment and they're closed on Sundays, I found it at Surf Church so go figure, just my luck again! I couldn't just leave it there with kiddies playing all around and I couldn't take it for demolition because The Regiment was closed.(note* If you ever want to invade Bermuda, Come on a Sunday) I wound up wrapping it up in an old towel and taking it home in the back of my little car, the car never felt smaller and the bumps never felt bigger on the 5 mile trip home. I stashed it in a bucket of water overnight (it had been in water for several decades already) and left it in the back corner of my yard. I took it to work with me the next day, still in the bucket and wrapped in a towel, but had to wait until the Regiment opened at 9 am.(early mornings are a good time to launch an invasion too!) I drove around the base asking soldiers where to take it and was finally directed to the Quartermaster's Office, nobody got excited about it but Hey, It's Bermuda! I took it to the Quartermaster and it took a while to break in on the Monday morning conversation (never be rude in Bermuda, even if you happen to have a bomb you want to get rid of). When I finally got to explain what I had, the Quartermaster said "Oh, I haven't seen one of those in a long time, Thanks" then he wiggled the detonator with his fingers. I got the heck out of there, PRONTO! No explosions reported on the news that night so it must have been dealt with successfully.

Bermuda is Another World,

BDA

Man BDA I bet that was a wired experience for sure. I bet if that baby was a ticking then they might want to have had to do something a little sooner...Maybe.or maybe not.....Glad you got away unharmed....Buster....

I Absolutely, Couldn't Believe My Eyes when he did that! This is a fairly high ranking individual in The Bermuda Regiment, you would think he would know better and Anywhere else he probably would. You see stuff on some of these islands that your logical mind just can't believe but it actually happens so how can you believe otherwise. Some day I'll have to write a book about my experiences in the islands. Jimmy Buffet can't touch some of this stuff.

Still Livin' and Lovin' the Island Life,

BDA
