Five gallons of pennies!
five gallons of pennies!...really what should I do... just inheratied full dry wall bucket of pennies... thanks Ma and Dad....but what should I do other than keep wheats ...look for miss stamped ones will take weeks... melt down cause copper worth 2 dollars a pound= $120... on top looks like all newer coins even some zink anyone know what year the zinks started thanks Chick!

Chick, I would sort them and keep the wheats and see if there are any double strikes...Then off to the coin machine for sure...Buster....

I believe zinc started in 82. If they were mine, I'd sort thru them for wheats at least.

Chick - there is no telling what you may find in that many pennies...sort thru 2-3 dollars worth every evening...you'll be done in NO time...did ya check out the earlier post where 301 pennies netted 10.7 Million? That likely won't be the case here - but I'll bet there are some good ones in there! Good luck!

The 1909 S VDB is worth a couple thousand, the 1914 D is worth alot, the 1922 plain fetches prety good, the 1931 S brings a hundred bucks or more, all depending on the condition, and there are plenty of double strikes that are worth alot, most notably, the 1955 double die. That many pennies is worth going thru before you melt them.

Roll the ZLincolns and check the tarnished coppers. One good find could make it all worthwhile. It might be enough for you to recoup the cost of that Sweet Excal that's coming tomorrow.
