Well I did it. Today I picked up my first detector. With all the help of the members here (don't want to mane manes because I don't want to miss anyone) and Whites customer service, I landed on the Whites MXT. Got a smokin deal from a local dealer that I happen to know.
Ended up with the detector, which came with a set of adjustable volume headphones, and a Whites 120mm Bullseye II pin pointer. Plus, the have a upgrade called the Sierra upgrade that for the price of shipping ($11) the send you a set of Koss headphones, another Bullseye II pin pointer, a detector cover, a few DVD's and a couple of books. Quite the deal! For some reason, there wasn't a manual in the package, so the dealer ordered me one and threw in the book "The MXT Edge" by Jeff Foster, which is supposed to be a great book for this unit. I'll post my first hour of "experience" in the appropriate forum. Thanks again to all that helped me. I will have tons more questions I'm sure... Frank |

Thanks all. I took it out in the yard for a hour today and found these "treasures"
Better yet, I found some experience on how the machine works and what noises it makes. I can see it will take some getting used to. I'm gonna dig everything for awhile that has a decent tone and see what I get. Seems the best way to learn. Nos, I just have to find some good places to go... Thanks again... Frank |

glad to see you finally picked out a good machine. for now, i would say try to just dig the repeatable, solid signals that the detector makes. watch this video for some help: http://bigstuff.whiteselectronics.co..._searching.wmv
