I've saw where others on here break it down & take it on their carry on, just let them know you have one before going thru the scanner, they've had no problems, just pack your digging tools & scoop, enjoy the beaches & have a great time

Default Hey Creek

Glad to hear your getting outta there for a spell,I don't know about the travelling part except my Dad is planning to ship his out here this summer b-4 he comes out. I don't foresee a problem,I'd insure it just in case,in Florida it shouldn't be too hard to find a dealer if something were to happen to your machine in transit,Do you have a backup machine to use at home while the other is in transit?

Hey Creek, you won't have a problem if you just break it down and put it into a carryon. Tell the TSA people that you have a metal detector and the rest of your stuff (trowel, etc.), just put into your suitcase. I keep my MD with me because I don't want to take any chances that something may happen to it. I also carry my probe or anything that isn't sharp, but is expensive. I have carried it on at least 4 times without any problems. I know that EPCGuy has also carried his MD on, too.

Good luck and have a great time!

Hope you have a good time and find bunch's of good stuff. If you like to fish, go over to the beach and get on A1A south for about 20 miles to Sebastian inlet S.P., good fishing on the north side off the jetties east of the bridge and on the south side in the inlet, west of the bridge. I think they charge an entrance fee. There is some good detecting beach to the south of the inlet all the way to Vero Beach.

Best of luck

Hey Creek, glad ya gettin to take a well deserved vacation! Sorry, can't help ya none about flying with a detector - but what I always do when I fly anywhere is to take a carryon with a couple changes of clothes in it + overnight fedex everything else. Last time I 'checked in' luggage, I got it back 2 weeks later - it went to alaska while I went to tx .
Be Safe...Be Happy!!!

I was going to recommend one of my favorite eating places just south of Melborne, Ozzie's Crab House, But I just found out, it burned down Jan 3rd. I hate that, all the crab you could eat, darn. I hope he rebuilds it.
