Default Some happy news.

I know I haven't been here very long, but I have felt welcomed enough to share some happy news with you all.

My youngest son turned 18 Jan. 1st. The very first thing he did ASAP was start the process to change his middle and last name to my hubby's. His "real" father has had nothing to do with him in over two years and my DH has been the only DAD he's ever had. He made up his own mind that he wanted to take his dad's name as soon as he turned 18.

So as of the 3rd. of this month he officially changed his middle name to his dad's first and took his last name.

It made me proud to have a son that knew on his own who really loved him and was his dad, and proud of my husband for being that dad.

Hope you don't mind me sharing.

It sounds like your son knew what he wanted and took the responsibility to make it happen.
Now there's a statement you don't hear enough of.
It also sounds like he had a good up bringing. Congrats

Your sons actions speak volumes for his character, and his apreciation for his dad. he is wise to know the differnce between a biological father, and a loving dad.

Well that is great news! The fact that he "wanted" to do this on his own. You have every right to feel proud. I know I would be, Beale.

Thanks guys. I am happy that my son finally got the dad he needed even if it was a little later in his childhood, (DH and I got together when he was 10). My DH has reintroduced Brian by his new name to everyone we've seen. He's not a little proud either.

I've found that several people have been thru the same thing. It's nice when families can blend successfully.
