Default The Post Office, Police and The A.T.F

Well I havent been able to get on here for the last week and thought I would let everyone know about my run in at the post office. I have a great relationship with everyone in my town and get to hunt alot of great sites because of it. Now, I work at nights at a water treatment plant, I am always on call, and I work a 6pm to 6am shift, 2 days on 3 days off. But I usually get in 4 days a week because we have been shrt a operator for along time. Since my day usually starts a around 5 in the afternoon I cant always make it to the post office before it closes so I talked to my mail lady and put up a big box with a lock on it under my mail box so I can get my digging tools out as soon as possible. She just opens it up and If I have any tools in their she puts them in the mail for me. So 2 weeks ago like always she opens it up and gets 5 tools out of it and sends them on their way, or so I thought..... Well that day when they made their way to the post office one of the tools puched its way through the side of a box. She didnt notice it but the post master who I didnt know did. He called the police and said someone was trying to mail "MURDER WEAPONS" thru the mail. Now, six days later the police show up at my door along with the A.T.F, wanting a HUGE explanition for what I was doing. Well the Post master made it a huge deal and made it alot worse than it was. I explained and it was a big laugh for everyone but me. It took the post office 6 days to contact me about this while my digging tools set their in someones office, I was VERY MAD!!! then they made me unpack everyone of them and re package them with a piece of cardboard tapped to the end, SO to all who recieved them late I apologize and will do anything I can to make up for it, I appreciate everyones business and hope I never have anything like this to happen again, Godbless Charlie Edmondson

OMG! Murder weapons? Wow, I'm really sorry that happened to you and I think the postmaster has been watching too much CSI or something.

did the atf ask ya if you paid the proper taxxes on your out going shipment. befor homeland security they worked for IRS.... thats right folx the ATF was once an enforcement division of the tax man.

Gharlie glad you got that worked out. i just hope you dont have a folder in washington with a big red flag on it now. one thing you may consider is engraving into the blade. This tool is designed to dig. not meant for the purpose of murder or mayhem. Digging only.

sorry for yer inconveniance

Y'know, I was thinking the same thoughts when I mailed out multitools to Buster and Anne...in Anne's case I actually had to identify the contents on a Customs label...a multitool amounts to a beefed-up pocket knife, so I guess anyone could make anything they wanted to out of it. It's just a shame that the times have gotten this far out of control...best of luck to you, Charlie!

This whole thing should have been easy to resolve. To prove that you were sending digging tools and NOT murder weapons (interesting technical term by the way), all you had to do is start pounding on the postmaster's head with one of your digging tools. It is highly unlikely that you'd be able to prove that your digging tools are effective 'murder weapons'.
I don't doubt that the postmaster would be getting some stitches at the Emergency Room by the time you'd proven your point but hey, Mr. Dumbass started this thing.

Cheers Mate,

BDA

Hey Charlie that is one heck of a story. It is a shame that we as a country have gotten to this point. It makes you wonder how they send guns in the mail.

One thing you might do is wrap the ends in bubble wrap or some ither such cover. Then they would not punch through. Maybe even double box? I dunno I just hate it happened to you, Beale.

Charlie..that situation was not good and blown way out of proportion by the post master...Yes too much TV....sorry for your trouble...As for Shawn's multi tool...yes it could be used as a weapon if wanted..but it is a tool and that is what I would use it for...If I was to do the deed, I would use a gun or a chainsaw...not a digging tool or a multi tool...that's just me....Buster.......

Have you considered making your tools out of Rubber to avoid this. Sorry Slim.. I couldn't help myself. Really Blown way out of Hand on their part. Don't they know ya don't have to mail murder weapons... Ya can just buy them on the steet corner and save time & postage. Sorry to hear ya had to go thru that.
