Garret has always ben my favorite, but you should research and shop around a bit.If you can afford it the top of the line(garret 2500) is an awsome and simple to use detector. One featcher is a distictive sound for coins and the ability to set it so if you want you can find nothing exept say quarters or dimes.I owned one and found many great finds. But i sold it last year to a friend. He figgered it would help him to find more of the good stuff than me.LOL but expirence and patiance are a big part of detecting( i still beat him everytime with my fisher cz20) good luck and happy hunting !!!

Talking Thank you for your help

I felt better after reading your answers. I went and pruchased a Barrett Ace250 Pro this afternoon. I want to make sure I like this before I spend more money. I just got back from serving overseas in the military and we use metal detectors every day over there for various purposes. So I kind of got interested and want to try it out as a hobby. We will see what happens. Now I just need to find some some spots to try out. Thank you so much. I will be sure to tell you guys how I make out. Who knows!! I may find Jimmy Hoffa if he has change in his pocket. LOL
