Newbie here, thanks for letting me join this forum!I am new to metal detecting. I got sick of working, so I quit, and am looking to try my luck on a hobby I always wanted to do, but never any time to do this. I have Minelabs Sovereign XS 2-pro and need to get good at using it. I will probably be trying it out on some florida beaches, since I live in the tampabay area, also plan to try my luck in Northern Mississippi, where I have relatives. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

Do a search on the internet for the area in which your relatives use and that way you can learn the history and specific sites to search.

Beaches can be tough to search, but if you just want to find some change when starting, go where people cross over to the beach, across from hotels, etc. High traffic areas are the best and early in the morning before the other detectorists get there.
