Default Hello New member here.

hello , New member here, hope Ive got this in the right forum. Looking for advice, Im in the great white north Canada and Im looking to purchase a decent detector. Ive had a cheap starter model and im getting hooked on this. The brand that i see sold here is called Bounty Hunter and one model is Loneranger ? any comment? The area I intend to concentrate on is covered in layers of compost leaves and pine needles , Its an area of 1880's logging camps and Indian trading camps. I guess it will also be used in the typical grass and sand. How deep can I expect to get a reading. And do they work through snow, say up to 6 inches, Thanks for the help any advice would be appreciated. I looked at some models in the USA but duty and shipping eats up over $125.00 pretty quick. Thanks

Default Hey Rigger

Welcome to the forum. This hobby is kinda addictive ain't it I started last year and bought the ACE 250 detector. I have very good luck with it. Check out the video page, Indy is hunting with one. I would recommend it. Good luck and happy hunting.

Welcome to TQ - Good to have you here. Lots of people on here have the Garret Ace 250 and they love it. It is a good middle of the road unit packed with lots of features for the money. Not sure what you are looking to spend but might be worth a look see. Looking forward to hearing of your finds.

Welcome to TQ, Rigger.
Ask away with any questions you may have, there's alot of people on here willing to help. The only detector I'm familiar with is the Ace 250, it's lightweight, easy to use, does really well for the price you pay. It doesn't get as deep as some of the other models, I think my deepest target was 6 inches (that's an estimated guess). And I have never used it in the snow.
Good luck

Give me a call and I can set you up with a decent detector or just go to my website and order from there. There is no duty fee for anything under 1000.00 so you should be safe.
