Default Hello from middle Georgia!!!

Hello all! I'm fairly new to this hobby, but seem to have jumped in head first. I have been lurking here for a while and thought it only right that my first post be an introduction.

I'm 30 years old, born and raised in middle Georgia, and married for almost 10 years. I have talked to one other person on this site, and hope to meet/hunt with some others.

I need to learn the basics of this hobby and get some pointers for you guys. I bought a White's XLT (my first detector) and may have bit off more than I can chew.

Anyways, I hope to meet some people and maybe hunt with some of ya'll!

Chris

Welcome. I use an XLT and love it. I would suggest starting in coin and jewlery program and get used to the machine. It will take some time and alot of garbage to get used to the XLT but I'm sure you will be happy when you learn it. If I can answer any questions please feel free to ask and I will tell you what I can. Good luck

Default Welcome

Hello and welcome to TQ ziffen812. You will learn that XLT fast I'm sure. It just takes a little time to learn what any detector is trying to tell you. You will be finding the good stuff before you know it. Keep us posted.

Hi Chris,
The XLT isn't all that difficult it's just the temptation to make a lot of wholesale changes to the programs with no clue as to WHY that causes the frustrations . Been there and done that Keep it simple, stick to basic programs and dig a bunch of targets whether they show good or bad. Practice your swing speed to see how it affects target depth.
I would strongly recommend getting the 5.3 Bullseye coil for trashy areas and go from there. Any questions just ask and we're here to help as best we can. HH Bill

I appreciate everyone's words of encouragement. I hope I can find the time to find some good stuff. I have a couple of leads on some Civil War property that is privately owned. Maybe I'll be able to post some finds from them soon.

John,

I have family in Chatsworth also. Their house was a Civil War hospital at one time. I plan on making a trip up there this spring/summer.
