Post what is considered the best machine for coin hunting

I have been using a white XLT for a few years.I would like to get more serious and am looking at a minelab explorer SE. Is this machine accepted as the best coin machine built or should I consider others?

The word best is a bit broad in term. Some will say that a PI detector is the "best" for salt water beach hunting and I agree. Some will use a Minelab SE and not like it so is it "best" for them ? If you are mostly looking for coins on land , it does narrow down the field. If you are already using an XLT then you know it can be a very good coinhunter and will get pretty good depth. The DFX in my opinion is better than the XLT. The SE is a different operating detector than the XLT. In my opinion ; if you are willing to work with it , use it , and have patience in understanding it , then it can be the best coin hunter . I've used the SE and although I have my moments of frustration , It is the deepest detector I've used. let me know If I can help you in any other way or help you with your purchase.

Default There Are....

.....several machines that are very good for coin hunting. it mainly depends on what your budget is, and how long you wish to spend on the learning curve!

The SE is a Very Good coin machine. Many users swear by them. However, hunting with 28 frequencies at one time can be and usually is very confusing for the new owner. The learning curve is about as long as it gets with a metal detector. The machine is also about as expensive as it gets in hand held metal detectors. It will streatch one's budget, and patience. having said all of that, once you finaly learn the machines language....you have a fine detector. Warranty 2 years with a possible Extended Warranty available for two more years, total four years.

The story is pretty much the same with the White's DFX. Not quite as expensive, and not quite as long a learning curve, but it can be confusing as well. It is also an excellent coin hunter, once you learn the language. Warranty 2 years.

If you would like to be a little more frugal, and spend a little less time on "the curve", you might want to look at the Tesoro Cortes. An excellent coin hunter for about 25% less money than the first two machines. It is a blend of the digital ID, and analog performance worlds! It goes deep, and is lightning fast in recovery speed from the trash to the keepers. Muc lighter and easier on the arm over a full day of hunting. LIFETIME Warranty on this beauty.

Finally, at the lower end of the price scale, at about 80% less than the first two machines, and 75% less than the third choice, the Garrett ACE 250 is an awesome coin machine. Don't let the price fool you, this little guy can and will kick butt on the coins. It's pretty much a turn on and go detector, next to no learning curve, and with a 2 year warranty.
