Default Eclipse Shooter DD (4x6)?

I went out hunting in a very old and large park yesterday that was just littered with trash. I literally could have dug a hole every 10 inches and started to at first but was afraid I would have nothing but a trench and a bunch of metal junk so I moved on to a different park. My question is would a Eclipse Shooter DD (4x6) coil discriminate out most of the trash or is it just the smaller foot print that helps in dirty places? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

PS I'm using an MXT

The smaller foot print does help a lot in dirty places. I use the 4 x 6 in trashy areas & it does separate the trash very good.
In very trashy areas I use the 3 x 5DD. But with either one you have to work much slower. I was very surprised just how much better they do in places with lots of trash.
I don't believe they discriminate any better but with the smaller footprint they will pick up what the standard coils mask out.
About the only time I use the standard coil is when I am in a larger site where it has minimal trash.

Go SLOW
I don't know much about the MXT, but if it has preamp and disc settings don't turn them up. Just go with all the factory settings.
After and if you feel you get it fairly cleaned out of the trash
THEN you can start adjusting the settings to get deeper trash while getting to the good stuff.

I am a very firm believer that where there are older pop-tabs and trash, once it is cleaned out that is when the
TRASH TURNS TO TREASURES

Default Yes However

the 5.3 eclipse would be a much better choice as it is concentric. The 4x6 will still be covering a 6 inch area. The round eclipse is a much better choice in extreme trash.

I am sorry Larry(IN) it is a 5.3 coil.
I stand corrected.
It, as you said is a much better choice in extreme trash.

I use the 4x6 DD on my MXT... it has worked very good for me. You will be able to seperate item, but go slow. I bought another rod for mine. I always have it with me so if I go to a new sight and find the there is loads of trash I go back to the Jeep and change to the 4x6DD.... Hope this helps you.

I know this is an older thread, but I am in the market now for a coil to detect an extremely trashy 200 year old cellar hole. The 4 X 6 is actually able to get into tighter areas than the 5.3, due to the fact that it is only 4 inches wide vs. 5.3 inches.
