Default Ace 250 pinpointing question

I purchased an Ace 250 six months ago and enjoy this new hobby and this new instrument; however, I'm still seeking answers to small details that I have not figured out. Although I feel confident using the Ace, I will present one question at this time. When I get a solid hit and attempt to pinpoint (pin) the target, sometimes my pinpointing "sound" goes away. It's like I have to let off pin, find the target again, and attempt to pin once again. Most of the time I hear a continous pin sound, and yet, it has been all too frequent that it won't pin the first time or I lose the tone.

You know what? I have noticed the same thing. I'm not sure why it does it, but I just assumed that it jumped to the next level of detuning, so I start my pinpointing over. I usually just take the coil away until the meter is cleared and start over. I will be interested to hear what the experts have to say about this. I figured it was just me.

Yep, happens to me also. I do what Pris said, just start over. Can't remember if it ever ends up being a good target (coin) or not.

This happens to me on occassion, too. I usually back away, wait a few seconds and try again and it usually works fine.

And Welcome to TQ, Iowapilot

I’ve had that happen too. Once I found that I had press the button while the coil was over another target. OOPS

I’ve also noticed it will loose targets or they seem to move when the sens is too high.

Hi everyone! This is a common occurence and that's all you do is back away and then reaquire the target and hit the pinpoint button again and watch for the strongest indication on the digital scale and listen to the audio for the loudest sound. Good luck and God Bless.
