They are doing a lot of road work about 2 or 3 miles from me. They have the whole road removed in spots. I was wondering if anyone has searched places like this with any luck. Not sure how long the road has been there but I am sure it has been quite a while. Any insight on this would be great. Thank you and happy hunting.

I am no expert on this but I would say definitely go for it. I have seen some roadsand sidewalks torn up but with all these construction workers and also while driving but if I ever had a chance I will definitely do it. Have been looking for opportunities like that. In fact about 1 mile away from me there is a construction going on and I am planning to give it a try when I get a chance. Only problem it is a very rocky area.

Sounds like a great place to try. May be fun to get ahold of an old map and see if it was ever a stage coach road or something cool. Of course do this at night so you don't miss any daylight hunting
Not to be a wet blanket, but make sure about the laws for hunting public property in your area. We had a 5 people cited for trespassing and fined here for MDing a new bypass construction area near a battlefield park. Of course, from what I read there were specific signs prohibiting trespassing at the site. Hope you are able to search the site and best of luck. |

I would say definitely go for it, Journey. Big Bill made a good point that most paved roads are over old dirt roads, so finds, even if few, should be quite interesting.
Let us know how it goes!

You know what. I live in Saint Paul Minnesota right now and I was thinking along the same lines of what you said. The area the road is being replaced is not a real old area and I think I would find way more junk then it is worth so I have decided to focus in other areas. I will post about those at a latter time.
