Default Ace 250 -What do DEEPER coins sound like??

Do the deeper coins still "ring" as loudly and intensly on the Ace 250 as the shallower targets seem to? I've found myself using the COINS mode only on my MD as that's what I'm most interested in. Am I making a mistake by not getting used to the 'All Metal' Mode of my detector first? Is the 'All Metal Mode' any better for DEEPER coin searches than the coin mode if using headphones for both?

I find myself finding only newer coins and mostly newer pennies. These ring hard and fast on my Ace. Does the deeper stuff still make the ACE go crazy like that? Are the faint (and some times vansihing), tones worth digging?

Hi Westattam! I also have an Ace250 and in my experience it's not really a softer tone if the coin is deeper, it just seems to be smaller. What I mean by this is that when you swing over the target, the tone will cover a smaller distance. Also, when you pinpoint, it may not go to full bars when you're right over the target. I hope this makes sense. Others may have better answers.

Also, if a target only sounds on one side of the swing and not the other, try rotating a quarter turn and catching it from a different angle. It could be on its side, but you know what? You won't REALLY know until you dig. You gotta dig trash to get the treasure, so if you're not positive (and how can you be positive unless you have X-Ray vision) I would dig. Remember that gold hits as a pull tab on the Ace250 and you sure don't wanna miss that!

Good luck! and HH

The sound is the same for deep or shallow targets on the Ace250. On other detectors the sound can be fainter for deeper targets. Pris has it right in the sense that the target will seem smaller as this is attributed to the depth and the way the coil sends the signal into the ground.
