Hi Arkwater, I have seen some user manuals that will suggest if your not happy with the auto GB result to go into manual and do it manually. I like having a detector with both but If I had to choose I would want the manual GB first. I feel with manual GB it gives you a lot more power over your machine and you can really fine tune it for a particular situation. I hope this is helpful and I'm glad you brought it up. God Bless and happy hunting to you.

Thanks John! I have the X-Terra 30 & am thinking I should be getting more depth. I have been think of getting rid of it and trying a Tesoro Vaquero. But I like the visual display when hunting tot lots and such where there is a lot of trash!

Ok Arkwater and glad to help. You have a good machine and I agree the large display is very nice. But since your willing to move up, yes I highly recommend Tesoro detectors. The Vaquero is a coin magnet, I know I have used it. But if you really feel better having the display then the Xterra 50 is also a great machine. I have also used the X50. I make every effort to use to a great extent every machine model and brand that I sell so I am able to sit down with the customer and share real world experience. Either machine is a very good choice. Ok PM me or email if I can help you out Arkwater. So God Bless ya and it is very nice to meet you.

The purpose of ground balance is for the detector to completely ignore the grounds mineralization. Obviously if you dont get it right then your detector has to filter thru more and looses sensitivity to targets. Mineralization varys from one location to the other. If you manually ground balance you have to monitor the ground-balance and reset it periodically. Auto trac machines do this for you and do it very well for the most part.
