Default Cell phones & Metal Detectors

I use a Nokia model 7610 cell phone, the GSM variety, but when I get a call coming in my Ace250 starts sounding off like I have just located a 50 penny pocket spill .................

Wonder if anyone else has run into this, not really a problem, I just moved my cell phone to my back pocket while metal detecting ..............

Default Radios...

...yeah, those cell phones are radios, and output EMI just like most electronic devices. Depending on the frequency and the power of the individual phone...they will make the detector talk to you!

Default cell phones

chuck hit it on the head... MD control boxxes are not shielded from from RF energy. when manufacturers went to plastic housing they opened up the machines to some unexpected EMI/RFI noise. me personaly... will not carry cell phone in pant pocket, ever.

put some ripe grapes in a micro wave.

i aint saying cell phones have enough power to do that. but i aint gonna risk it.

funny thing is i have no probs holding it next to my brain when talking on it...

GO FIGURE

I use multiple detectors and I put my cell phone in my pouch.

The pouch is on my right side and I swing the machine with my right hand.

So far I haven't had any trouble like that at all.

Guess I have just been lucky.

I am getting too old to worry about grapes, I am waiting for grandkids now .......

What I found out with some research today is the GSM variety of phones, one will get interference through speakers on your computer if your phone is laying by the speakers anytime a call or text msg comes in ..................

Boobie, did you dig one of them little holes ..............

been there, done that, ended up with a beer can, I wouldn't have felt so bad if it had been full ............

I wear my cell on the left side & swing right handed and haven't had a problem so far. Could be my bit of a belly acts as a shield. Looks like another reason not to diet.
