OK Boobie, now that you have some time with the ACE 250 I have a few questions for you. With your experience I respect your opinions. I know that you have several detectors and can compare the 250 probably as well as anyone.
The ACE is my only detector and I find a lot of stuff but I keep thinking that I should up grade. I have never had any other detector so I can't compare it to anything. I keep thinking that maybe my finds would be more or maybe older stuff cuz a different detector would go deeper or maybe better at target identification. I am forever wondering if I am missing a lot of finds by not having a "better" or more expensive detector. Guess my 1st question is do you think this is true? Can I expect to find more with a more expensive detector? Am I missing a lot of finds with the ACE? If the answer is a better detector then my last question is kind of a loaded question and I know there are a zillion different opinions but I want your opinion. Again, I respect all your experience. The question is what should my next detector be? Thanks in advance for any advice you might be able to offer. ![]() |

is a good lightweight beginners detector. There are an assortment of coils to interchange with it. I placed a 12 inch spoked coil on it and found a fingernail sized piece of rusted metal down to about 8 inches. Only has 2 knobs, one for discrimination and the other for sensitivity. It has automatic ground balancing and runs very quiet...that is until you find something. The larger coils are little more difficult to pinpoint with though. I use it mainly for relics. I haven't tried it in water yet. The standard 8 inch coil will find coinage down to about 6 inches depending on soil conditions.

Hi everyone,
Just to keep you updated and let everyone know that Boobie is not blowing off my questions he took the time to contact me by private email and give me some great advice. What a great guy He is recommending the X-70 and I am leaning that way for my second detector, I will keep you all posted. ![]() |

I have both the Ace and the Xterra x70. The Ace is a great machine but I have found I like the fact that the x70 has much more flexibility, like all the coils and the ability to manually ground balance and auto ground balance. It has so many more features that I have yet to learn. The best part is that you can turn this machine on and go. I read the book and watched the videos and then hit the yard. I learn something new each time I use it but I also find something every time I go out, which keeps me motivated to keep learning. Good luck in your decision.
