I don't think it would. It has some preset programs that you can just turn on and go. Like any detector it would take some time to learn the tones but once you did it is a fine machine. Just my humble opinion.

Probably not. Just like any other detector,,, ya gotta learn it. Best thing to do is, get one the closely matches the type of hunting and conditions your going to use it for.

Research different detectors in your price range and compare the features of each that you will use. No sense buying a Relic or Gold detector if your never going to Relic/Gold hunt.

One thing thats nice,,, plenty of people on the Forums that are here to help with any questions.

Hey Gator, I've got a MXT and would suggest it for anyone. Read the Engineering report it'll get you started with some little extras. I use mine in the relic mode. If you put the pinpoint trigger forward it will take out all the audible ferrous (iron) sounds out (mask) and leave just the high pitched desirable target sounds. Works like a charm. Less trash diggin, more finds. After you get used to it awhile, you'll be cranking up the gain and finding deeper targets. Got any questions, don't hesitate to ask. HH Rick

nope!! white's machines are all turn on and go. all you need to do is ground balance (on screen instructions provided), select a program, and find some treasure!!

Thumbs up MXT Owner Opinion

Hey Gator

To answer your question directly; NO!

I have an MXT and wouldn't trade it for anything. I did find the manual a little slim in information and bought the book "The MXT Edge" by Jeff Foster and found a wealth of information. I got it from here: Field Depth Enterprises' Books . I'll bet some of our sponsors also have them in stock. Well worth the price.

Like MeNstick said the Engineering report from White's is a must read also: White's Electronics - MXT Engineering Report

The manufacturer also has a good read called the MXT Diary: White's Electronics Metal Detectors

and like everyone else said pretty much turn on and go.

Thanks
Leo

I think it would be a good machine. I have read good reports on it. Give one of our sponsors a call and let them know what type of hunting you are wanting to do. I am sure one of them will be able to help, Beale.

I don't really know anything about the mxt but I don't know think any machine would be too much if you're willing to take the time to learn it without getting frustrated, even while learning, most machines have presets that can be used to make finds until you're comfortable enough to make changes to it.

One thing to consider before buying a high-end machine is, will you enjoy this hobby? It would be a shame to spend alot and find out it's not for you, I know someone who did just that. I think that's unlikely to happen to anyone that is on here, how can detecting not become an "addiction" seeing the finds people are making and the fun their having!

Default ill enjoy it

I use to hunt with my dad years back and enjoyed it then. The only thing, back then I was heavily into bowhunting and 3d archery shooting. Things change in our lives, our priorities change so I had to give my bowhunting/archery up. It was great fun.
For the last 7 or 8 years I havent had a hobby so to speak.
I do recall some things from hunting and using machines (Whites, old coinmasters) but Im still a babe in the wilderness.
I cant wait to get some experience (learning a new machine) under my belt so I can hit some old places way, way, way back in the boonies (woods and swamps) that I found while bowhunting.
The only thing, right now and its frustrating as all get out, I dont know which machine to get.
Im kinda stuck on a Vanquero, Whites M6 and Whites MXT.
I really like you guys. I have frequented most forums this past month or so and decided to join this one. You guys are like a family. I did join another to ask a few questions but by far this seems to be a much friendlier forum.
Thanks
John

Gator, I've sort of been thinking of an MXT myself...if this is what you end up with...let me know how you like it and how quickly you became comforatble with it...I'm still pretty new, too!
