I was really hoping to have a decision made and order a machine on Monday but Im not even close.
I will be coin/jewelry hunting, maybe some relic hunting on land and fresh water/river beaches. On the MXT,which I didnt even consider because I thought it be over my head as Im just learning. Some say it is an easy machine to grow into. I have read its built on the Whites gold machine and that is really to sensitive to coin hunt with. I have also read that the stock coil needs to be changed to keep it quieter in the heavy mineralized soil and heavy iron infested sites. If I spend the extra bucks on these DD coils what effects do they have on the machine, negative and positive. What happens if I am hunting in a heavily iron infested area and I only have the 5.5 concentric coil?? I doubt that I ever will nugget hunt. I may once or twice a year go down to the Gulf as I have friends in Biloxi and Gulf Shore, and try my machine on the beaches there. Since I probably will never nugget hunt should I be looking at a differnet machine and if oppurtinity ever came up to nugget hunt I could just buy a machine to do that. I hope all this makes since. But please tell me if this is a good coin/jewelry machine or not. Thanks John |

Hi John, I really don't know much about White's but if your needing something beside a mono tone audio response then I'm sure the White's will be your ticket. But I will share my opinion of the Vaquero with you, it is a coin magnet and I love the audio response on a good target. The Vaquero is maybe not for everyone but it is certainly able to hold it's own. I would research all 3 machine models you have listed until your sure of what you want. White's has very good machines along with all the other brands. But just to get to the bottom line, it would be the Vaquero for me. Ok good luck and I will help you out if needed John. Don't hesitate to call. I would call Tony at T.C. also and get the scoop on White's. He is a good man and will help you out too. Ok God Bless John and I hope you can resolve your situation soon!

I can answer that one for ya. NO, John doesn't. He was going to carry them but there was alreay a Whites dealer in his area so Whites said No. This is what he told me as I deal with John and was looking at the Whites Beachunter ID so John directed me to TONYC who also is a Great guy to deal with. I would Contact him and see what he say's. Thats what I Love about the Sponsors here, No One try's to have the whole Pie, If one can't be of service they will direct you to who CAN help you out. Good Luck In your continuing search for the Right detector for you. It Pays to take your time and get what you think will be best for you.

I have enjoyed reading Johns and Tonys responses to various post.
I had part of a day off this week and did call both places but as my luck had it I missed both of them. Ya know the saying "If it werent for bad luck I would have no luck at all." lol I just dont know what to do. I know this, Ill be coin/jewlry hunting on land and some fresh water beach areas. I dont have anyone to talk with about these machines, all I can do is ask questions and Im not one good to put my thoughts into words. I dont have to have a display but if I had one I wouldnt have to look at it. Thanks John |

Wish I could help shed some light on your questions - but I'm still pretty new myself...I know one thing, though...go with what feels comfortable to you...it may not be the machine for everything...and you might want to trade it or buy another down the road - but you'll quickly figure out how to maximize the effectiveness of whatever you buy...and most importantly - get diggin!

Hi Gator,
If your mostly into coin @ jewelry hunting where you tend to be more selective i'd go with an M6 and the optional 7 tone ID. If your into relic hunting and willing to dig a threshold null or anything above your lower discrimination setpoint i'd go with a threshold based detector such as the MXT or Vaquero. I have a number of detectors and can't keep my hands off the M6 when hunting older trashy sites especially where targets are 6"to 8" max depth and using the multiple coil options. HH Bill |
