Default Gain/HOT technology???

If the MXT has extra gain/power and the newer Tesoros such as Vanquero has the HOT technology. Is this the same thing or similar. Can someone explain this to me.
How much more heavy is the MXT compared to the Vanquero.
It seems the MXT has more coil selections. Its a shame they dont equip it with the 6X10 since it is really used and recommended.
Thanks much,
John

Default Hey Gator

I couldn't answer that question but if your Coin/Jewlery hunting and beach to then you might want to check out the M6 with the TID & 7 tone ID. I think that would be more to your liking for the hunting you want to do. The MXT is about $ 100.00 more and a little more versatile such as if you want to nugget hunt to. I've actually been researching both of them this week and it's a tough decision ( go figure ) but if I get one of the 2 somewhere down the line, I think for coin/jewlery & some beach hunting I'd go with the M6. It sounds like the M6 is a little more stable & quieter as the MXT has so much gain. Both get Rave Reviews ( Like that makes it easier ) Like I said I have a Vequero & Love it & won't get Rid of it but when I'm ready for a 2nd coin/jewlery detector, it will be one of those 2 and most likely the M6. John is usually available after 3:30 Texas time as he works a regular job to. ( just in case you didn't know that ) Good Luck as your search goes on.

If you pull up MXT detector Forums on your computer there is a site called, The Very Unofficial MXT users Support Homepage. It's VERY Informative and may help you with your decision.

You won't go wrong with either technology. Both have done well and have many folks that like em. I would be happy with either one.

Default Maybe this will Help

The MXT is a Modified version of the GMT wich is a Gold detector. The MXT has been modified from this to also be a Coin/Jewlery & Relic machine but you still have the High gain if you want to Nugget hunt. The M6 would be the MXT WITHOUT the High gain. Just like the Tejon with it's high gain is like a Vequero on steroids as they say. Pretty much the same detector only the Tejon has more gain and Dual disc. The hot coils will work on them both plus the Cibola & Lobo ST and there purpose is to handle minralization better than the Concentric coils, Improve Sensitivity & give you better Discrimination in Trashy areas. Just as the MXT, M6 & GMT have different coils for different Sites & conditions you are hunting in. So it's pretty much Apples & Oranges. Each detector will have a PRIMARY function and crossover abilities with different coils according to what & where you are hunting. If you think you may at some point do some nugget hunting or get into relic hunting then I would say spent the Extra hundred and get the MXT. If you think your pretty much gonna stay a Coin/Jewlery & beach hunter then I'd say save a few bucks get the M6 or Vequero and use that money for another specific coil. Just My Opinion and I hope this helped and did not confuse you even more. I don't know the weight factor but I would think the Tesoro is a little lighter. Also seeing as your taking your time ( Smart Move ) to find whats right for you, you may want to see what kind of Holiday Specials may be coming. Good Luck and Keep asking if your not sure.

Default Thanks guys

Tinman, I have read much on the MXT,M6 and Vanquero. I guess I was on the right trach even though ones Apples and one is oranges. I dont know why the MXT is sticking with me. Ive read its just as good hunting coins as the M6 and even more flexible because of the different modes.
I would think from my meager understanding that either the Vanquero or the MXT would be good for relics if I choose to do that someday. Also I have read and hope my understanding is correct that with the MXT in relic mode you can have different tones to use.
Guys, thanks so much for your time and response.
Holidays, well who knows, maybe I should wait a bit.
John

Default Right On Gator

All you said is right on the money. The MXT gets Rave Reviews for coins and is more versitile and for a $100.00 more you can't go wrong with the flexebility you'll have. It can really make your head spin trying to decide. Who knows, you may even get out somewhere some day where you can Nugget hunt and you'll already be set for it. Welcome to the world of metal detecting decisions. .
