Default Do you run "All Metal"?

Right now on my X-Terra 70 I am running "Pattern 1" which is a coin and jewelery mode with certain notches discriminated out". I am also running 3 tones.

I have been thinking about running "all metal" and seeing if I like it. I know we all use different dectors, to a degree. I am wondering what are your thoughts on all metal vs a pattern? Thanks in advance, Beale.

I run in all metal, and in pattern 3. But when I find a nice tone I switch off the all metal to double check and see if I still get the same tone.
THEN I DIG.
All I can say is that it works for me.
It still comes down to just getting used to what suits you the best.
Hope this helps in some small way.

Hey Boobie I am curious why pattern 3? I tend to run #1. Pattern 3 gets rid of certain foil doesn't it? I guess I am wondering what I am missing? I do switch over to all metal sometimes while pinpointing, Beale.

Hey Boobie I am curious why pattern 3? It just seems to work better for me. I do turn down the sens to 10 to 12 instead of my normal 22 to 26 when in trashy areas. I tend to run #1. Pattern 3 gets rid of certain foil doesn't it? Using it this way I have found a few nice pieces of jewelry. I guess I am wondering what I am missing? I do switch over to all metal sometimes while pinpointing, It may be wrong but I don't pinpoint in all metal. I have also learned to swing the coil in and out when I'm close to a iron pole instead of swinging it from left to right. That will give a tone for the piece of iron and another tone for a good target. So I get 2 tones instead of just one (which will be the chunk of iron like a pole on a swing set.) I hope I said it right. Beale.

I use all metal in areas that aren't trashy.

Beyond that I detect in coins or custom.

I hunt in all metal mode if the ground is not to trashy, or I use pattern #1
in the trashy areas like some parks and fairgrounds. I pinpoint by
switching to prospect mode. In Prospect mode you can probe for the
shape of the target you have found and once you get the hang of how it
works, you can pretty much tell if its is a disc shaped target(Coin) or some
irregular shaped target (usually junk, pull tab al foil etc.) Try Prospect
mode, you my learn to like what it is telling you.
