Default Frequency confusion?

Ok, first I'm sorry if this post is a little long, but I feel I need the advice from you pros. I live in northern Mich, which for the most part there isn't much of a mineralization , or salt problem. I own property in the Keweenaw in the upper peninsula, that has a lot of iron and copper deposits. The detectors I am looking at are the Whites DFX, and the Garrett GTI2500. Now my question is, the Whites has multi-frequency of 3kh, and 15kh and can be used singly or in conjunction with one another. Is the Whites more designed for the use in or around salt water areas as opposed to the Garrett that has a single frequency of 7.5kh. According to the Garrett info I read, they said that the single frequency was better overall for most conditions but not real good for salty regions. They also stated that the multi-frequency would lower your target ID capabilities. So keeping this in mind, what would my target ID be in the 3kh range, and the 15kh range as compared to the 7.5kh range of the Garrett? Does this mean that depth penetration will suffer with the multi-frequency as opposed to the single. Salt is not a consideration here. The only time my search coil will see salt will probably be when I spill my Margarita on the coil . The cost of the two machines is the same, or real close. Keeping this in mind, what would be your recommendations here. The detector I had before was an old Garrett ADS7, so I wasn't dealing with the new microprosessor technology. I still think the Whites is a better machine both in looks and durability, but if it isn't gonna do for me what the Garrett will, I'll have to rethink the whole thing. Again, sorry for the long post, but I need the input from the rest of you. Don't have to make a fast decission just yet, not with 3 feet of frozen ground to deal with Can you help me out on this? Bill

Default i always run with the 2 frequency's

and my depth or target i.d does not suffer.i can not compare the 2 as i have never used a garret so i can only speak of the dfx. you can cancel out hot rocks and the target id does not suffer. the only time my id acts odd is when i get a very deep target or one that is intangled in roots. you can tweek the dfx to be a good machine any where but it is hard to learn at first. hope this helps in some small way but i am by no means a pro or expert.

Default Minelab `s Multi frequencies

Bill please check out the Minelab Sovereign ELITE, OR the Minelab Quattro. These two machines a have multi frequancies. Elite 17 frequncies, and the quattro has 28 different frequancies. Both Superb and EASEY machines to use. Depth is down to fantastic depths. I`ve pulled a Dollar size coin from 13 inches with the Elite but the quattro is a lighter machine with same depth. Worth checking them out . You would NOT be dissapointed at the results Check the Minelab forum for more info. www.minelabowners.com/forum/index.php to ask info of both machines

Again thanks for the feedback. I am looking at the Sovereign ELITE. Looks like a nice machine, and the reviews on it are pretty good. AH yes, another choice to make.
