Default Rest-stops..?

Was wondering, how many of y'all out there have hunted the roadside rest stops along the highways? I also wonder how long most of those have been around...?

Anyone got any insight?

I was at one yesterday and was thinking the same thing. I was with some folks so I didn't take the time.

Default re. rest stops

I have thought the same. I know where several were, and seen historical markers at some of them. Also, I know where a couple had picnice areas. None of these are in use anymore.
Good idea.
Thanks
John

There's a rest stop in my home town called Whitehaven. It's an historically registered property, as it used to be a plantation house belonging to one of the more wealthy landowners in our town's history. It's a beautiful house that was almost torn down, before it was totally renovated and restored. If y'all ever drive I-24 through Paducah, KY, stop at our rest stop, but I doubt you can MD

I have 2 rest areas right down the road from me. Wonder what the odds would be of getting stoppe, or at least questioned?

It is state property, used by the public, heck some of them are quite old, Beale.

I think rest stops would provide a lot of clad...I find coins in the parking areas all the time...as was mentioned, some areas have been around for a long time, so some older finds are possible too. Watch out for all the doggie land mines in the grassy areas, though!

I've thought about that before when traveling, but never really had the time, just get out long enough to eat or whatever else and throw the frisbee for the dog then on the road again.

Default Re: Rest Stops

I checked the National Registrar of Historic Places for Minnesota and I didn't find any places close to any of the rest areas on I-94. I know there are some historical markers at some of them, but I haven't heard of any restrictions with the land.
