Talking Old train Depot???

Been doing research and finding some old spots. Found a field here in town that used to be a train depot built in 1870's and tore down in the 1950's. I've only got to search there once so far and found nothing but some clad and some old iron stuff. I had my detector on discrimination, should I have it on all metals??? Tried that for a while and it was beeping every inch...
Help...

If you are primarily looking to find some old coins then you should be discriminating out the iron. The only way to hunt and not miss any targets is the all metal mode but it is sure aggravating

If it were me, I think I would hunt on all metal at the beginning in order to "clean up" the area of the debris and unwanted items...then go back over the area with the discrimination adjusted...

I know what you mean about the all metal. I tried that where I hunt in order to clean up but it would take the rest of my days. Maybe a smaller coil?

Train depots and tracks seem to be a challenge because of all the junk and iron. I would try both all metal then go back with discriminating iron never know what you'll find. Good luck.

Train yard and all metal, now that is gonna be fun!

Try gridding of an area like 20x20. Only hunt that area in AM. Dig it all, may be slow going (it will be). After that area is clean go back over it in coin mode. Repeat for the entire site.

Or just keep doing like you are doing, and hope for the best, Beale.

I personally would discriminate out iron to start with and see what you pick up and you should be able to go more than an inch without a beep, you can always go back over it and lower the disc. or go all metal.

With the age of it, I would try if at all possible to get everything out of the ground before I quit.

Good Luck!
