I really like the thought of this hobby, except i cant advoid the overwhelming feeling of looking silly.
Their sure are a lot of road blocks when it comes to M.Ding . the biggest thing i just dont want to get into any trouble with anyone. however it sure is temping to sneak around for 30mins....

Welcome to the site! Do not worry about looking silly! Heck have you seen some of those jogging suits?

This is a great hobby, and one you can really enjoy, good luck, Beale.

Welcome to TQ. I would not think twice about looking silly. People just sorta look at me cause of my sparkling personallity and my big bountiful belly. That takes the heat off my detector. Most times they just stop and ask what I have found. I tell them and then they are happy. Also I think they just wanted to check out My Belly up close.....Happy Hunting...Buster.....

I could give a crap if I look silly, it's something I enjoy & that's all that matters, if they don't like what they see or think it's funny then that's their problem, the treasure you find will make it all worth while, if they only knew what they were missing out on they'd be out buying a detector of their own, get out there & enjoy your hobby!!!!!!!!!!

What looks silly to me is a bunch of grown men whacking a little white ball and then chasing it all over the place, throwing and bending their clubs if the little fella doesn’t land in the right place… But what the heck, if it makes them happy. lol.

Then you can consider what my ex-wife told me, she said I look silly with or without the detector.

Last but not least, consider the words of Sydney J. Harris, “Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable”.

When you’re an old man and your life is coming to a close, don’t look back over your life and regret not doing all the things that you wanted to do just because of what others might think.

Welcome to the club and HH,
Dave
