Hi jimmyjiver and welcome to TQ, sorry I'm not familiar with either detector, but I'm sure someone will chime in. Let us know what kind of mods you're trying to make?

Thumbs up Thanks To All That Replied

Hi.. I'm Still Banging My Head Against The Wall Trying To Get Some Information.. The Fisher 1270 Is Totally Stock Untouched ..I'm Just Trying To See About Tweaking The Iron Discriminator So It Discriminates Out More Items.. Plus I Possibly Would Like To See If It's Possible To Add A Manual Ground Balance Control In Discriminate Mode...Now The Garrett Has Been A Work In Progress Project For Years...I Hope To Report Back On That Machine In The Near Future...Thanks To All For Making Me Feel Welcome

Hey Jimmyjiver WELCOME to TQ. . I will get a hold of John Tomlison and have him read your thread as he Sells Fishers & Garretts and does Electrical work. He may be able to answer your questions.

Hi Jimmy, I understand your frustration but the detector makers don't really want any of us getting into the machines and making mods, so schematics are non-existant. They will not share any info with you either. But you want to be careful when making a change to any metal detector circuitry because metal detectors are a compromise to begin with. So if your just wanting to bring a certain control to the front panel be sure it is the right potentiometer. I wish I could tell you which pot is which but I can't at this point. Ok Jimmy good luck and be careful.

Default Thanks To All

Hi, Thanks To All That Have Replied.. I Can Understand Fully Why The Schematics Are Kept Secret And I Don't Blame The Manufacturers One Bit.. It Just Seems To Me That The Information On What The Potentiometers On These Machines Do Would Have Been Leaked Out By Now..The Freedom Is Almost 20 Years Old And Has Four Pots In It With Some Models Having Only Three..The Fisher 1270 Has Five (I Think) And Is Not Even One Year Old. I Just Want To Know If It's Possible To Turn A Pot In The 1270 To Increase The Iron Discrimination Level And If There Is A Ground Balance Control In The Discrimination Mode.. The Fisher Has Never Had Any Thing Done To It And Is Still Factory..Someone Turned The Garrett Freedoms Pots Though.. I Believe In The Saying If In Doubt Stay Out....Thanks
