Default Feedback about FMDAC

I'm thinking of joining FDMAC. I think maybe the membership card might be useful in establishing creditability when asking for permission to hunt.

Does anyone have any opinion of FDMAC?

Thanks in advance. HH & happy New Year,
HL

Oops! Sorry about that.

It stands for The Federation of Metal Detectors & Archeological Clubs, Inc. From what I can tell, they're a national organization for MDers.

I joined a year ago. It is a great resource for laws and regulations. Some of it is a little confusing and overwhelming but they keep tab of national and state regulators that pose a threat to the hobby. I do not know how current the information is so it is ALWA?YS a good idea to make sure the rules have not changed before you hunt in a state or national park. It might save you from having your detector confiscated and from getting a fine.

They also keep a calander of meets and events.

Greg - If this is a worthwhile organization, would it be possible to have TQ join as a "club"? Everyone who joined would save $5.00 on their annual membership...

I am not a member but have visited the site. I agree as to not sure on how up to date the info is?

I also like EPC Guy's idea. Maybe worth looking into, Beale.

The FMDAC is a good organization and the dues are so low it would be hard for them to give us any kind of break. Just my humble opinion. JC

JC - I was looking at the site - and saw that for individuals it was $10 per year - whereas club membership was $5 per person and kids were free...there was no overall fee for clubs that I could see...that's why I thought it might be beneficial to join under club status - if the decision-makers at TQ thought it something to pursue...

The FMDAC is THE national organization for metal detectorists. This is a combination of clubs from across the country. They have two annual hunts and do their best to keep us having the ability to treausure hunt. I highly reccomend you join either through a club or individually. Cost is 5.00 through the club or 10.00 through individual persons. You do get a membership card but more importantly you are supporting a big voice for US .
