Default Wanting to upgrade

Hello all, I want to upgrade to a better detector this summer, I currently have the White's Prizm III & just want something more high powered, I hunt mostly the beaches but will be hunting for coins & jewelry in sand & dirt, now my dilemma: I don't want a detector that is a real noise machine, what I like about the Prizm III is that it makes one beep when you hit on something, then you can pinpoint, and I ABSOLUTELY do not want to wear headphones, I'd rather have my eyeballs gouged out with a rusty spoon than to wear those things, is there a good machine that will fit my requirements, thanks for all your help..........

What price range? Do you hunt the wet sand or just dry?

Their are a lot of options in that range! That being said, I have had really good luck with the minelab X-terra 70 ($700). The tones are user adjustable. It has notching ability. Lightweight. Long battery life. It has a beach mode & prospecting mode. adjustable ground balance & a pretty good choice of coils! I know tesoro makes a machine or two that will fit the bill also but I don't have any experience with them.

Hi 'E' the XTerra 70 has everything you need.
It is a really good machine on and off the beach.

Hey E I will echo the X-70 comments. I know I really enjoy mine also.

I would also maybe look at the MXT since you run a White's now. Lots of folks like them also.

Do you need a VID? If not the I have heard good things about the Tiger Shark also, Beale.

since you use a whites machine already, you might want to look at the Mxt, 799.99 or the XLT at around 899.99. I can tell you the XLT is an awesome machine. It has a beach jewelry program and is good in dry sand. I learned on this site to turn off transmit Boost in wet sand and after doing so find it great on wet sand too. Worth checking into many brands but i like Whites.

Sovereign GT would be my choice if your mainly hunting salt beaches. Just did a price check and evidently Minelab raised the prices on everything and the GT will run about $800. Everytime i've used the Sov GT inland i'm impressed with it but have to learn patience due to the very slow sweep speed necessary for optimal performance. On Salt Beaches the Sovereign's are among the best. HH Bill
