Default So disappointed;( Help me!!

I went and got my Bros Metal detector and was so Excited to try it out! Well Needless to say it didn't work..It isn't the best it is a Treasure Hunter Voyager..The problem is it won't detect anything it has different modes but it just won't work..It will go like a high pitch but won't like make a sound over the coins that i layed on the ground. But it did a little bit like light up as Ferrous or Non Ferrous! so I don't know my dad took it apart and put W-d 40
on the switches but it didn't make a difference i really want to just get out and find some and then for my B-day i will get an expensive one but Please any Help will be Very Very Very much appriciated THANK YOU!!!

Sorry to hear about you detector. Is there a detector shop near by where you could have someone look at it?

Don't give up yet. Are there any detector clubs in your area? I would ask for help. Might even try the local radio shack, likely they will know someone who would be willing to help.

Lots of choices in that price range. Read some of the posts here about first detectors & take a look at the sponsors page. We have some great ones & they all have websites you can order from. A lot of people like the Garrett Ace 250 ($200). Its a real good machine!

Dylan, Did you place some fresh alkaline batteries in the machine? The reason I ask is because my friend had a very old machine that his dad had purchased ages ago and was sitting in a closet all these years. The batteries were never removed from the machine and suprisingly never did corrode. The machine would still turn on with these age-old batteries, and would still make "noise". However my friend was unable to find anything with the machine. I told him to place some new fresh batteries in the detector and when he did, it worked a lot better. He was able to find a few coins with it, but eventually purchased a Garrett Ace250 metal detector which he loves. If you are planning to purchase a new detector in the $100 - $300 range, I would suggest you buy an Ace250. They sell for $212.00 and are one excellent piece of equipment. Many people call it a "coin magnet". It was the first metal detector I purchased and I am never planning on getting rid of it. It is super-easy to use and I am sure you will find tons of coins and other interesting objects as well.

Good luck with the detector you have right now. I sure do hope you are able to get it working soon!

Dylan, I think you would like the Garrett Ace 250. Light weight and easy to use.

Does the coil have a cover on it? If so try taking it off. You said it is making a high pitch, if you are around high power lines, they might make it go off. Also to high of Sens could make it unstable. I am just thinking out loud, trying to help.
