the reason I ask this question there is a lot of advertisement about the depth of a pulse unit but on the Garrett web site it states that single freq. units go deeper than multi freq. units (pulse)?

The problem is actually HOW deep can they go? The PI's are hot on iron so you get depth on small trash that you will find driving you crazy. Although you can do it with a lot of patience, I would not reccomend a PI for relic hunting.
