hey

if the ground is already frozen, then even above 40 degrees wont thaw out for a long time....

if not frozen, then only the first 1/2" or so will harden up...

It all depends. The south side of hills are usualy the first to thaw. Also wooded area's are good sometimes.Right now were getting alot of rain and that also can help thaw things out.If you have any plowed fields to hunt they shouldent be to bad after a little sun hit's em.All ya can do is give it a shot and see !

It really depends on how deep the freeze goes. I would think in Michigan its about 8-10" deep and that will take another 4 weeks at mild temps to thaw out.. Im sooo ready to dig. I just got back from scouting and found alot of promising potential hunts.. weeee

Can't really say it'd freeze at exactly 32 degrees, I'd think alot of things would factor-in, cloudcover, windchills, shaded areas, etc.

I used to calibrate my thermometers in a glass of ice water, which was neither (soild) ice, nor 100% water, but a mixture of each......this is the point of 32 degrees.

Default how to defrost ground?

Mding is the only case for global warming. In Chicago winters are too long-there is snow everywhere......im goin nuts-I should build a dirt box in my basement and hide coins in it or something-maybe if I get a 300' extension cord and an inverter for my car I could plug in my paint melter and get out-how about flame throwers-do they sell those at the army surplus stores?maybe if I cover the ground in beer-I can never keep a beer cold for very long!!! Maybe I could move further south-like cozumel-or maybe the great MD inventers could invent a secondary coil that defrosts the ground as you go-now theres a idea.Well-since I havent found gold yet,at least my wife is happy-she can keep me at home doin laundry-found a coupla coins there-but never a wheat! Help!!! Please send spring soon!!!!
