help on bounty hunter sharp shooter 11

i'm pretty new to metal detecting and could use any helpfull hints on this detector.i've used about a month and found 1 merc 18 wheats and 197 clad. it doesn't act like it's getting down more than a few inches.i'm searching an old park with about 2 inches of top soil then gravel. so any suggestions on the best way to operate the sharpshooter

Welcome to the site IronRaven! It sounds like you are doing well with your detector. Heck a nice silver, and wheats. Pretty good to me.

One thing that could help us is to let us know what your settings are. How high is your sense, and discrim. Are you using all metal? That type of thing.

Normally turning up the senseativity helps you get deeper to a point. You do not want it so high that you are getting false readings.

Do not discriminate too much either. You don't wanna knock out pop tabs, cause that is where the rings are, Beale.

Hi IronRaven and welcome to TQ.

I would guess that if you found the Merc and all those wheaties, that the detector is working right, different soil conditions will only let objects penetrate so deep.

Just to be sure you could re-bury them at different depths in your back yard to get an idea of how deep your detector will read them.
