Default Your Yard

Just wondering how many of you have REALLY detected your own yard. Now I don't mean getting your new toy and checking it out on the lawn but a real search of your property. Did you find anything?

Default Oh Yeah!

Sure have, Just starting out last week, and found a Silver Medallion, and just a couple days ago found a Confederate Reunion Souvenir Medal! The stuff, at least some of it, got there by being rolled up in the sod that was laid back there about 20 years ago. Don't know where that dirt came from, but has yielded up some interesting stuff! Found a quarter in the compost heap too.

I am in the process of working the yard. I have found a few dimes and some pennies, nothing older than the '70's though. Found LOTS of trash too. Does that count?

My yard has been detected over and over and it never lets me down, Some of the things I have found. 1937 Walking liberty half, 2 1964 quarters, a 1943 mercury dime. a cap gun from the 50s and lots of army buttons. I have just over an acre and when I can't really go out I play in the yard. Good luck.

Good post! When I got my first detector, I thoroughly detected my yard a couple of times. Besides some wheats and silver, I found a 1945 Five Centavos Philippine coin that was minted in the US, one side was Philippine the other US. Also a 250 year commemorative (I believe 1938) for a ferry that ran about 30 miles from here that's since been replaced by a bridge. A very heavy copper or bronze ring and some old metal lipstick tubes, rouge containers, shavers and some kind of cream tubes. Not to mention nails and other typical. That had to be close to 20 years ago and have only played around since then with new detectors. Now that you mention it, I'm going to have to get out there and try again with "todays" detectors .

My new to me (3 years) home has really been very trashy in the yard. My old home got torn down by the state. I went there right after I bought my detector. I found my only Mercurey dime, and a very cool 1921 British copper, Beale.
