I agree with all the comments given but I still do it a little different, old school maybe but I still do it. I run the cable straight up the back of the shaft for about two feet, secure with black plastic zip strips or Velcro strips, than wrap tightly with the first wrap over.
Shielded or not I still feel better about it when keeping most of the cable out of the coils reach. Hay what's up with the underline? I can't make it go away either? ![]()

I read something by Whites that it is recommended to overlap the initial coil wire winding as to better align the threaded coil plug at the control box so there is less stress on the plug wires. I agree with keeping the coil wire snug to the lower shaft with enough slack for some coil movement. Whatever works.
