Default coin depths

for you experienced guys.. how far should a coin sink on a grassy typical soil clay lawn up north? if it was lost in 1940,50,60,etc. can you pretty much figure say 2 inches for 1960? i got a hot spot built in the 50s.

Freeze and thaw will move a coin quite a bit. I have found clad at 4 inches and silver at an 1 inch. I still have not figured it out, I think them coins know we are out there and make a run for it.

I agree with ochog. If you live in the northern region, the freeze and thaw can move things all over.. The ground will actually shift quite a bit depending on the depth of the freeze..
