I can't answer your question on whether its good or not but if you add $45 to the price you can get it new at WallyWorld. This will give you a warranty and any goodies it came with.

I use a Pioneer 101...a step below the 202. These are BH's made for Walmart. If you are just starting out and not wanting to spend a lot of money, then this is a very good machine. As with all machines, you have to take the time to learn it and how it responds to the different targets.
I think you would be happy with it.

Here's my review from www.metaldectorresource.com

I actually have a Pioneer 101 which is the Fast Tracker made for Walmart. This machine is very low priced at under $100. It is a basic machine without the bells and whistles. I have been very pleased with it. I have put it side by side with a more expensive Tesoro and found that it matched up very well. I use it for coin shooting and CW relic hunting and I have found items from on top of the ground to approximately 12" deep. For the person who is just starting out and does not want to invest a lot of money to start, I would highly recommend a Bounty Hunter as a beginning metal detector.

Default BH Question

Bottler Hunter-

The BH Pioneer 202 is the detector you can find all over at Wal-Mart. As far as I know, BH has discontinued it. The replacement is kinda the BH Quick Draw II.
I am new to detecting and when I was doing my research, I found mostly good reviews for the 202. Its around $200 at W-M. The QD II is more expensice (MSRP)

I was able to find the QD II much cheaper on eBay and it came with all kinds of accessories. I have used the QD II on four hunts so far and I keep finding more stuff. It's all about learning the machine. For a beginner (and for the price), the QD II is a good machine.

Check Amazon, eBay, Wal-Mart.com.

PM me if you have any other questions.

Happy Hunting!
