LRL Long Range or something else?
First of all I’d like to say thanks to all for the great welcome.
Recently I’ve taken a lot of interest in finding some buried treasure that I know of here in the Texas Hill Country. Many years ago I had a Garrett metal detector – a BFO which was great for just small targets, but needing a unit that supposedly could hunt 100’s of acres at a time I thought I would check into a LRL long range detector. I found an old Gold Prospector magazine (Sep04) that had an add for the “Omni-Range Master”. So after some thought and conversation with the owner of Prosp and Treas Hunters HDQ in Gardnerville NV, I decided to go out there to see this thing work first hand. The old guy running this outfit could hardly speak because of his age and physical impairments. He refused to do a field test for me so that I could actually see the unit perform. He took this attitude because he figured out that I was not interested in his $2800 machine but only the $900 unit. Fortunately my friend and I had other things to see and do and the trip turned out great.
The bottom line is that I have no idea if this is the kind of detector/unit/machine that I actually need or not. If not what else works in its place??
Any ideas?
