Default Volume control question...

Hey y'all -

I was wondering something... how do y'all adjust/keep your volumes on your detectors?

The reason I ask is, on my set-up (1266X) I turn the volume up all the way, and adjust the output volume for comfort in my headphones... do y'all do that too? If not, doesn't that sound like a good method, or does it make any difference since you have to adjust the volume anyway?

Also, my machine has a "dual" sensitivity knob - I can either have it pulled out (lower) or pushed in (basically a pre-amp that "boosts" the signal - you would be AMAZED at the difference...) When I combine that with the volume trick, there isn't too many coins or anything for that matter that I can't hear...

Anyway, just wanted y'alls 2 cents

Later,
Robert

Hey

I put the volume all the way up on the MD.. I have a set of headphones that have a built in limiter, so dont have to worry about blowing my eardrums out...

Must be nice to have volume control...sorry to say that the Ace 250 doesn't...but the headphones that came with it are kinda chinsey but do the job. Im in the process of modifying them to be like a set of I think they're called 'stingers optimas' one ear piece only. Im cutting off the other one and making a 3"x1.5" piece of aluminum to add foam to and attach it where the other headphone cup was...the headphones have volume control...

I adjust my MD and the headphones seperate. I am 50% deaf in my left ear. So that one is kinda loud, Beale.

I have MD on full volume and then adjust headphones accordingly.

Ace250 here, so I have to have the inline volume control on my headphones. The silly volume slider keeps moving around, so I just need to tape it down in the position I like. Sometimes I wander around without knowing that the volume is all the way down!

I can trump you on that, Pris...

I've hunted for half an hour once with my machine OFF.

(It was a really quiet field... what can I say?!?)
