Default Found a Rifle Round - Unfired - Help!

Well guys, I been out in the backyard again, found all kinds of stuff from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. There is a large pile of glass that I am carefully excavating, and several iron tools and nails.
I also found a Remington 30-30 Rifle Round, dented on one side but un-fired. It looks to be from the 20's or 30's. The numbers on it are: REM-UMC 30-30

I also found a W R A Co 38 Rifle shell, that had exploded. Primer is in tact.

Any suggestions on what I should do with these? Storage, dismantle, Give to my brother the cop?

Those are easy to get rid of, Mate. You just need a solid rock and a hammer. Place cartridge on the rock, point in direction of evil mother-in-law and then strike cartridge with hammer.
Now that's killing two birds with one stone!

Okay, okay, just ask your brother if he'd get rid of them for you.

Cheers,

BDA

Default Don't have any evil

I don't have any evil mother in laws or any other evil to aim at! Me mum-in-law is peach!
My brother lives 300mi away. I'd like to go see him but it's a big road trip.
I need to know how I should store it. It's very old, and if the primer is nitrocelulose, it may have broken down already. I just don't want to drop it or something and have it blow like this other one did when it went into the ground. The dent on this round is intersting too. It looks like it was dented by another bullet. The bullet left lead on the surface that oxidized and left a white mark on the impact site. There may be many more out there. I have found three cartiges so far and 2 of them are un-fired. It looks like my place was once a dump for the neighborhood from back in the 1800's. So I expect to find more that are un-fired and damaged and I need to know how to store them before I dispose of them.

Default I thought of that too

I don't want to destroy it, but I did think of pulling it out. I'd rather not. It's one of the original 30-30s and a bit of history around these parts. Winchester (Mystery) House is not far from here, and this is the round that the Winchester fortune was built on.

Deef, I would take it to the police station and tell them that you found it..Also tell them that your brother is a cop and that you were going to give it to him, but he is too far away..They will help you out...I believe so anyway...Buster...

I've put the nose of the bullet tightly in a vice facing up and gently twisted the cartridge with pliers to seperate the bullet from the cartridge.
