Default Churches

We have a couple of pretty old churches in my town (1835 or so) and I'd love to search around their property. Can anyone tell me what kind of luck they've had when asking permission? These churches are fairly large and pretty intimidating. Do I offer to share what I find?

I have had alot of luck with old churches. That's where the community functions were held. You don't have to ask the preacher, just find a deacon or elder. Most don't mind at all. It depends on if it looks like they spend alot of time and money on the grass or not.

I found my first 1800 coin at an old church. I would get permission if anyone is there but I have never been turned down when I asked.

2008 finds

1 gold necklace
1 silver anklet
5 silver rings

3 wheaties

Heres a church I hunt when I get the chance, havent found anything real intresting yet but I know somewhere theres silver out there. I have asked plenty of churches and they usually sound excited to allow me to hunt them. I always give my finds to the church, seems to be a good conversation starter and they love to talk about the history of finds.
