you can go to White's Electronics and they have manuals you can download and print for free. yes they have that machine.

that machine is a darn good machine. its heavy and a battery hog but it will find the goods and it goes deep.

down load thta manual and study it hard. read it over and over again. and once you think ya know yer machine.... read it a few times more.

the key to that machine working properly is the ground balance. once you can do that it will find the treasure for you.

hope this helps... welcome to the hobby and to TQ

Welcome to the site. These guys are great and will answer all your questions. I used to MD back in the 70's and you were all alone. Now that I'm getting back into it I feel like I've got a family and support. Happy hunting

Hi and welcome to TQ.

If the detector works it sounds like a good price and a good machine to start out with, sure beats some of the newer department store detectors in that price range.

I had a White's and was very happy with it!

Default I used to use a Whites Coinmaster 6000D

Hi Dennis,
I think you will do quite well with this metal detector. The only complaint I had with my old machine is that it is heavy. My new DFX only weighs 3 pounds. If you don't have the manual, go to Whites website and you can download it from their site. If you have questions, they have a toll free number listed there. The Whites customer service department is unsurpassed in their cooperation in helping those of us who use their equipment. You will be amazed how willing to help they are. Here is the link to their website:White's Electronics - XLT® E-Series Metal Detector
I checked and your detector is listed. At the bottom of the manuals page, there is a catagory listing "older Whites metal detector manuals. Click on that and everything is listed there.
As for depth, my 6000D was good to about 5.5 or 6". I found a 1920 silver dollar down 6.5 inches, where the pros thought there was nothing left. This site had been searched heavily for over 25 years. The coin had been there for over 50 years. I used to find clad all the time, down to 5". I think you will love this detector. I used mine so much you can't read the print around the dials any longer.
Good luck,
Robalou
