I dont own a prizim, but I did look at them when I was making my decision on a first detector. Do you currently own one? Which is it?
It kinda boils down to what you are looking for. If you want to find jewelry most people suggest you only discriminate Iron out.
If you dont care about jewelry, then you can take foil and pulltabs out, but you will also be losing nickels unless the prizims have two levels of pulltab discrim, then you can leave nickels in and only discrim against some pulltabs.
As far as sensitivity, that all depends on the site, turn it up as high as you can and still maintain stability (no falseing / chirping).
I have no clue about fresh water, but I dont see why it would be a problem, the coils is waterproof, so all you can do is try.
If you have not bought a prizim yet, I would think about the F2, it comes with a 4" sniper coil that is great for trashy areas. The garret ace 250 is also a great detector, and IMO both of these will do as well as the entire prizim line. Also keep in mind that you have to get alteast the prizim III to get a depth reading.
Dont get me wrong, lots of people own prizims and find great finds, and if you do already own one dont worry it will do what it was made to do and do it well, whites is a great company from what I can tell. I just think that in todays market there are better options.
Maybe someone that owns one can add more.
