Discrimination decrease depth?

Increase the discrimination and you Decrease the depth.

Yup on most all detectors, and you'll also loose out on smaller and miss angled targets. That's one of the strong points to the detectors that notch out instead of variable discrimination.

A lot of sensitivity is lost by the coil as it must recover after a null. This of course reduces depth and missed targets. Disc has it place thou. When in trashy trashy areas you arent getting a ton of depth anyway so notching is a good choice if you cant stand the constant chatter. Because after awhile you tend to get hearing fatigue. Some people still use notching on the beach to reduce the amount of time spend digging trash and consentrate on rings.
