Not a clue but I would think it would be a great place to MD. It seems the country side should have WW2 relics and such. I would definitley find out. Get permission from local farmers or something.

I'm hoping to detect there on vacation next summer. On Treasurenet there are quite a few from Germany. Mixed ideas though...seems that as long as you stay off historical areas you would be ok. Ask farmers to do the fields and you are good to go!

Default Detecting in Germany

Check out Adventure History I recently moved to Germany myself and have just decided to start detecting. The author of the website is in Munich and gives some very nice details and "real world" info on hunting in Germany. Hope this helps.

Default Metal Derecting in Germany

I spent about 17 years in Germany while I was in the Army. Mostly in the 80s and 90s. I did a lot of metal detecting. Almost every sunday morning I would go walk the farmers fields when they were not bearing crops. Mostly in the spring and fall. I spoke with the police a few times and told them I was looking for old stuff from WWII and would show them old buttons and shell cases that I kept in my pocket. I had 100s of old coins going back to to the 900s. I also found about 20 roman coins 1 gold and several silver ones. I only wish that I did more research. I would have loved to find some bronze age stuff. You will find plenty of good books with maps in them. I always searched around every Kasern I was stationed at. The military topo maps have some archilogical sites on them The maps before 1990 had the archological sites and roman forts and housed and historical places on them. I still have a gomplete collection from W germany. Sometimes in the summer the river around Mince Kastel close to frankfurt gets so low you can find roman coins in the sand by the old roman bridge site. I went to Spain every summer and collected 50 gold rings in 8 years of searching. There are so many books about the romans in Germany. There was a nice mesuem and old fort just above Frankfurt. Good hunting and drop me a line!
