Default New detector has me puzzled

I've been metal detecting since 70s mostly when I could find time using an old Whites that I had since a kid. I recently purchased a Garrett GTI 2500, which I just sent in to have recalibrated ( they really stood up to their word on customer service). I still have trouble with false signals, and the like. I'm not the best on technical manuals. does anyone know of a detectors group in and around Staunton Virginia that I could visit and hopefully see some hands on on what I'm doing wrong. Thanks

Default Hello, Sheep Farmer

From a fellow Virginian, Welcome. I don't know much about the Garretts, but that should be a nice machine. I know there is at least one detector dealer in Lynchburg, but don't know much else. Should be a group or club up that way somewhere. I don't belong to a club, and usually hunt alone. It would be nice to belong to a group or club, I guess, but I kinda like having TQ as my "group". It would be nice to meet all of these folks someday. Good luck with your detector. hope somebody can help you.

Welcome to the site sheepfarmer! The 2500 is the top of the line Garrett. I know that it is a good machine. I hope you find a club, or the info you need. Good luck, Beale.

Default Puzzled

Woooow,

I've never seen so many dedicated posts. If anyone knows of some clubs in Virginia, hopefully in the western side of the state that would be great. I don't get a chance every day or 2-3, to go on the computer to check this stuff, 57 lambs in the past few days will do that. I REALLY want to effectivly use this GTI 2500 and right now I'm more frustrated than anything. What about these "hunts" I hear about from Treasure magazine, are they worth going to.

Sieze the Day

ps how do you all get those cool pictures next to your name?

HI sheepfarmer and welcome to TQ ! Never used garrett but i'm sure that someone will help out and don't worry about gettin frustrated.. It comes with the hobby. Some days good ..Some days bad but all experience wich is good. never been on a hunt but hear they are Cool. We are having TQ's First annual hunt This OCT. in PA. so maybe Ya can make that. Hope Ya find a Club and I'm sure you'll get the hang of the 2500. some detectors just have a little more learning curve then others.

Good Luck & HH
