Default Some beaches vs others

I mostly go beach detecting once or twice a week. Sometimes I'll find lots of clad and sometimes I will only find a pitiful amount. Do you guys think it is the difference in beaches, or just how I am using (swinging?) my Ace 250.

If it is just the beaches, what can I look for in a "good" beach.

Thanks,
Legal

Legal, the beach thing just depends on how many people have been there and if they have dropped much...When "E" and I go beach hunting, sometimes we find coins, jewelry and other stuff..Sometimes not..Depends on what time of year and also the weather..If it is raining, there is not going to be much in the crowds there..We have hunted after holidays, after volleyball tournaments and other times...it just depends on what is going on...If you are finding stuff, then you are doing OK...I find lots of pull tabs and bottle caps..not to mention the elusive tent stakes...we also have been finding a lot of fishing sinkers here lately...I had a beach hunt where I only found 1 nickel and 1 penny..And I have had beach hunts were I found 2 watches and rings on the same day..It all depends...Keep at it..you are doing fine..Hope this helps out some....Buster...

I agree with what Buster said, we have great days & we have not-so-great days, all depends on the beach, I've found that if you hunt the 'party' beaches you'll find a lot more vs. the condo beaches cuz people walk out their front door to the beach & don't bring as much stuff, so there's less to find, plus like he said, if there's a lot of storms no one will be out there, we had a sand volleyball tournament & there were more than 5000 people out there, we had an awesome hunt the next day, good luck to you tho, you'll find it!!!

I mostly detect at Galveston,TX.
There's one spot that produces coins without fail.
No matter how many times I search it.

It isn't high traffic.
It's just a very small section at the end of the sea wall where kids party at night.
And I mean a very small section. But I can dig hundreds of coins every week.
And esp. during the summer they party nightly.
They light a small fire and drink and party.
The result is their pockets empty out while sitting down. They're drinking and they don't pay attention.

High traffic areas are good. But also look for where people might party on a more secluded small section of beach.

Best,
Doug

If you can find a place where the "hip-hop" youngsters gather, you will find more(IMHO). They are the ones that wear a ton of gold, and most of them don't have sense enough not to lose it.

Like has been said it's a matter of when and how many had been before you. I've hunted a section of beach in the morning and worked my way out. Returned a tide later and couldn't believe how much I found the second time around.

Crowd, by all means ! And competition. Yeah, it seems anyone coming to the seaside for a few days off, has a MD in the trunk of the car !

So do not underestimate competition.

We in Europe are, of course, much happyer as far as coins are concerned. Our coins are mostly larger (depth) and of higher values.

The place I live is very "in-jet set-trendy-place to be", so our beaches are always well visited in case of sunny weather.

Spent two hours this morning with my BH Lonestar, a MD I use only in the summer months. Got 31,51 euro. 'Bout 50 buck.

The 250 is a great dry sand unit.

I agree I hit a playgound up in town where parents take their kids to play and get a couple of bucks every time. My kids play while I hunt. It seem some parents get on the swings with their kids and coins must come out of their pockets because it seems the swings are my bread and butter. ICE

I am gonna give Orange Beach in Gulf Shores a try later on today. Gonna put the Ace 250 to the test on the sand.
