Welcome to TQ and Enjoy Your New Hobby,
I glad I spotted your entry. Why do you say Fresh water only for the Tiger Shark? I was think about making that my next choice. What is good for fresh and salt water, but not two detectors? Thank .............Doug

For sniffing gold and especially fine gold in the freshwater, nothing beats a Tiger Shark. The Tiger Shark has a salt water mode but it's not very deep penetrating in the salt. If most (70%) of your hunting is in the freshwater then I'd go with the T.S., otherwise I'd look at an Excal or a CZ21 but my nod goes to the Excal.(I'm assuming you want a VLF, discriminating detector) How much competition you have at your beaches and what they are swinging will also be a factor.

Cheers,

Most of the water around my area is either salt or brackish, that is why I chose the wader.
