Default Map for BIG GOLD in Texas

I met a man about 75 years old in my apartments a couple years ago. We were neighbors and talked often. He showed me a really old map one day, from late 1800's I think, of a place in Texas where he said there was lots of Mexican GOLD and SILVER buried. He said he is absolutely convinced it's true. For what it's worth the map did look very convincing and so old it was about to fall apart. And he said it would be worth multi millions today.
He was a truck driver for years and met a elderly lady in the 1950's who he befriended. She ended up giving him the map and explaining the whole story about why and where it was buried. The land it's on now is owned by people who my neighbor said won't let anyone on to search for it. He has tried repeatedly to convince them but apparently where it's located there's been lots of those kind of "Treasure Map stories."
Do you all have any suggestions on how he could get permission to look on their land? My thought is that he could contact local or Federal Gov't. since it was Mexican Treasure...? Sounds like a dream come true if he could get on the land and find it. But he did say it's probably 15 feet deep so I have no idea shat kind of equipmenat it would take to dig it up!

Thanks,

Kenny

Kenny, That's a good story and there are a lot of tall tales out there so be carefull. If you believe there is something to this treasure then go for it. The first thing I would do is go to the landowner and talk with them and let them know that what your looking for may or may not be there and don't fill thier heads with dilusions of fortune and fame,Remember people are all basically good you just need to learn how to talk to them.

I don't believe most teasure stories, But if you got the location pinpointed and you get permission. Get that darn backhoe and GET ER DONE !!!

Yep Rusty, I would if I could. Just haven't wanted to spend the money to fly out there and pursue it. I haven't talked to my ex neighbor in 2 years since we both moved. If ever a story seemed true it does. But it's not my map. I may try to relocate him though and try to figure out what we could do. Being in sales I'm good at talking to folks. So I wouldn't mind trying.
